GAZA ROCKET ATTACKS ON SOUTHERN ISRAEL
Alert sirens sounded Wednesday evening in a number of Gaza border communities as a rocket launched from the Strip exploded in southern Israel… Earlier in the evening, a rocket fired from Gaza towards Israel failed to clear the border and landed inside the coastal strip. In response, an Israeli tank opened fire on a Hamas position in Gaza.
In 2014, Gaza terrorists launched 4,600 rockets and mortar shells at Israel, 1/4 of which were projected to land near areas populated by Israeli civilians. Iron Dome downed 735 and failed to intercept around 70, consistent with a 90% success rate. Gazan rockets killed five Israelis and one Thai civilian and injured 80. Additionally, nearly 300 terrorist rockets landed short inside Gaza, killing 13 Palestinian civilians, most of them children.
POST SCRIPT TO IDF AID MISSION TO BRAZIL DAM DISASTER
IDF search and rescue forces in Brazil working with local teams helped to recover 35 bodies buried under the mud. They also tracked down a group of 15 people that were believed to have been swallowed up by the mud, but were alive and well at another location.
Brazil’s President Bolsonaro thanked Israel for sending the rescue mission.
THE FAR EAST
The number of Japanese companies doing business in Israel has tripled since 2013 to 80. Some 200 people from 100 companies accompanied the Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister on a recent visit to Israel

BOYCOTT DIVESTMENT & SANCTIONS (BDS) & TERRORISM
Israel’s Strategic Affairs Ministry has found more than 100 links between the internationally-designated terrorist organizations Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the BDS movement. More than 30 members of Hamas and PFLP hold senior positions in BDS-promoting NGOs. The Public Security Minister said the new report “reveals the true nature and goals of the BDS movement and its connection to terrorism and anti-Semitism…BDS rejects Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state within any borders. They want to see Israel wiped off the map.Promoting boycotts is a different means to achieve this goal.”

TERROR ATTACK
Two Palestinian terrorists arrived at a West Bank checkpoint on a motorcycle on Monday night and threw an explosive device at IDF forces. The IDF returned fire, killing one and injuring the second.
ATTACK THWARTED
A Palestinian trying to gain access to the Tomb of the Patriarchs in the midst of a tourist group on Sunday aroused the attention of police who when they arrested him, found a knife in his possession.
UNESCO
Israeli President Rivlin told 40 visiting ambassadors to the UN on Sunday that he could not understand how UNESCO could pass a resolution denying the Jewish connection to Jerusalem when Jews had prayed for 2,000 years to return there, besides the fact that there is ample archaeological proof of the Jewish connection to the city.
FIRST AID
The Israel-based 669 Alumni Association is dedicated to mobilizing veterans of the IDF search and rescue unit 669 to teach civilians around the world the basics of life-saving first aid. They have a “Heart Project,” in which they teach people how to treat heart attacks. They demonstrate CPR and how to use defibrillators. They even distribute the machines. Unit 669 alumni also teach standard first aid — how to stop bleeding etc. apply tourniquets, make slings.etc.
MEDICAL TECHNOLOGY
The US FDA has granted clearance to Israel’s Ossio for its OSSIOfiber family of bio-integrative bone pins, which secure broken bones during the healing process while leaving no permanent hardware behind.
Israel’s Nanomedic Technologies Ltd has developed Spincare, a breakthrough medical device which helps burn victims avoid the unbearable pain usually associated with dressing changes in burn treatment. It creates an on-the-spot nano-fibrous layer for tissue repair and healing without any contact from the caregiver and is used in European and Israeli hospitals.
MEDICAL CANNABIS
A 20-strong delegation of senior Thai government officials has arrived in Israel to learn from Israeli expertise and experience in medical cannabis cultivation, and to evaluate possible areas for cooperation.

Peter Lerner: This week, Israel’s Ministry of Strategic Affairs provided conclusive evidence that the energy of terrorists and their organizations has infiltrated, and is even driving, the BDS activities…Of all the details revealed in the report, one stands out as particularly disturbing: the driving force behind the international BDS efforts is the Ramallah-based BDS National Committee (BNC), which is composed of a coalition of Palestinian terror organizations called the Palestinian National and Islamic Forces (PNIF). In other words, the “executive board” of the BNC is a league of terrorist organizations. Boycott activities throughout the world are effectively being directed and implemented by terror organizations from Ramallah.
Adele Raemer: More than 10,000 Hamas supporters made their weekly statement of protest and violence on the Gazan side of the border yesterday, (Feb 1) launching over 100 explosive devices and burning tyres.
60,000 Israelis made their statement in the Western Negev this weekend, particiating in the first “Darom Adom” (Red South) festival since the region was set alight by balloon and kite arson during the dry season. Heeding warnings not to approach any balloons or kites that they may happen across along the way, and instructions of what to do in the event of a “Red Alert” incoming rocket warning, citizens from around the country filled our the region, to enjoy the beautiful sunny winter day and the flowers.
THIS is our triumph in the face of Hamas terror.
Fred Maroun: We Arabs have so far fought Israel for over 70 years with two openly stated objectives: Either destroy Israel by force, or destroy Israel by transforming it into an Arab state through a “solution” that would see Palestinian so-called refugees join the Jewish state…Instead of this, Israeli Arabs live in a world-class country, with extensive economic opportunities and democratic freedoms. Palestinians living in Judea and Samaria and Gaza could have achieved those benefits too, if they had chosen peace over war…Israel gives its Arab citizens equal rights even though the Arab world violently expelled practically all its Jews.
